Brown bear conservation and research programme in a model area in Romania
The project was launched in 2006 and has since been supported by the Bernd Thies Foundation and other organisations. The broad-based project works on different levels for the protection of bears in Romania and especially in the region of Tirgu Mures and carries out communication work and public awareness for brown bears. In a long-term study, brown bears are tagged with radio telemetry transmitters and their activity behaviour and use of space and habitat are studied.
